There are 9 circles of hell in Dante's Diving Comedy, there are 9 rings given to the race of men in Lord of the Rings, a human pregnancy normally lasts 9 months, there are 9 players in a baseball game. 

All my best wishes and enjoy today's reading, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein 1818. Shelley wrote the poem when she was between the ages of 18 and 20. This scene, calm in contrast to usual cinematic depictions, tells of the awakening of Frankenstein's monster after his creation.
