Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night,

I don't know about you but I couldn't get to sleep last night, and I should have been tired, but it just took a very long time. I became very irritable, obsessive and warm, my bed sheets became the same temperature as my body within 30 seconds of contact, before having to turn them over again, and the bed sheet I was lying on kept crumpling up. Eventually I felt quite delirious, and two people were having some sort of argument outside, screaming at each-other.

I eventually got to sleep, and then woke up to the sound of thunder, but I was half-asleep, and I thought the noise was from a truck, and I became frustrated, I got up and went to my window and the sky was on fire and I realised it was thunder, and somehow just the fact that the sound wasn't being made by something human made it better, and I fell asleep just fine.

I got up in the morning and listened to this song-

"Ball lightning is an unexplained atmospheric electrical phenomenon described as luminescent, spherical objects that vary from pea-sized to several meters in diameter. Though usually associated with thunderstorms, the phenomenon is said to last considerably longer than the split-second flash of a lightning bolt."

Today's reading is an excerpt from The Street 1946 by Ann Petry. This book became the first novel by an African-American woman to sell more than 1 million copies. Petry (1908-1997) was a short story writer, novelist, children's author and journalist, who's work often reflects on black life in small town New-England.

"Her first novel, The Street (1946), became a best-seller and was critically acclaimed for its portrayal of a working-class black woman, Lutie Johnson, who dreams of getting out of Harlem but is inevitably thwarted by the pressures of poverty and racism."

The song attached to the reading is The State I Am In 1996 by Belle and Sebastian.

(Today I also got borrowed good equipment for the recordings, so the quality has increased a lot, thankfully)
