Bedtime Story Conservatory 98 27/07/2020
Good afternoon everyone,
Number 99. I don't know if I feel like this project is teetering on the edge of something, or where it will go if it flies off or falls off that edge, but we will see I suppose. I'm feeling somewhat sentimental today, which is bitter - sweet. I hope this email finds you safe.
I will leave Finland soon, and I keep saying I'm going back to this, back to that, but that isn't right, I'm going forward as we all are, and all experiences that will happen ahead of me will be contextualised by the automatic growth which comes with time. I find some level of comfort in that- I hope you do too.

Yesterday I was in a large green rectangular park. In the middle of the park, there was a ginormous yellow and red blob sitting on the grass, convulsing as if it was alive. 5 People were holding a large black rope which bound the blob to the earth, as if it was a snared animal.
I realised that the blob was a hot air balloon, and I watched as the fire from the turbines roared into the balloon, gradually lifting it from the grass. It was loud, and many people were gathered to watch the thing take off.
About 8 people climbed into the basket, and were tossed around as the balloon tried to pull away from the ground, as if under some immense magnetic pull. The tension, the chatter, and the sound of the fire reached a crescendo. The rope was then cut, the people and the flames fell silent, and the balloon quietly drifted up, and away.

Today's reading is another excerpt from W.G. Sebald's The Rings of Saturn 1995. Every time I read this book, I become calmed, it warms my bones.
